Medication Companion

Overview

The Medication Companion is designed to help those who are taking GLP-1 medication get guidance on how to set themselves up for success, overcome common challenges surrounding GLP-1s, receive guidance on protein, and includes an updated food color system. This optional and free program is offered during the Noom Weight signup process to those who specify that they’re taking GLP-1 medications and in-app after signup.

Key Features of the Medication Companion

After activating the Medication Companion, you’ll have access to:

  • Protein Power features in-app that include a protein bar on the home screen, macros data at the end of each meal log, and an updated food color system. 
  • Muscle Defense library of selected fitness videos from FitOn, focusing on preventing muscle loss.

You’ll also have access to content in the curriculum and in the module library that’s tailored to help set you up for success on your journey. This includes:

  • A module on the importance of core behavioral change tenets, including nutrition, staying active, and healthy habits.
  • A module on common challenges while on these medications.
  • A module introducing weight loss medications and what to expect while taking them. 

How to Add the Medication Companion During Signup

When signing up for the Noom Weight program, you’ll be asked if you’re currently taking a GLP-1 medication to help you with weight loss. Provided that you respond Yes to this question, you’ll proceed to the next screen that asks you to confirm that you’d like to add the Medication Companion to your program. Just select Yes, add it to my plan and it will automatically be added to your Noom Weight program at no additional cost.

How to Add the Medication Companion After Signup

If you already have a Noom Weight subscription, you may be eligible to add the Medication Companion. To see if this option is available, please download the most recent version of the Noom app. If the option is available, you’ll see one of the following:

  • In-App Notification Card
  • In-App Medication Companion Toggle

*Please note that the option to add the Medication Companion after signup for Android users isn’t available until April 22, 2024.

In-App Notification Card

If you didn’t opt in to the Medication Companion program during signup, you may see notification cards asking if you want to learn more about the free Medication Companion.

  1. Open Noom and tap Learn More on the notification card at the top of the home screen
  2. Tap Go to Settings on the next notification card that pops up
  3. Toggle On the Medication Companion

In-App Medication Companion Toggle

If you don’t see the notification cards, you can turn on the Medication Companion in the app Settings.

  1. Open Noom and tap the hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen 
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Scroll down to Curriculum and toggle On the Medication Companion 

How to Turn the Medication Companion Off

You can turn the Medication Companion on and off at any time in the Noom app.

To turn the Medication Companion off:

  1. Open Noom and tap the hamburger menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Scroll down to Curriculum and toggle Off the Medication Companion
  4. Confirm you want to turn off the Medication Companion by tapping Turn Off

When turning off the Medication Companion:

  • The food color system will revert to a version with less focus on protein. 
  • The protein and macros bar will be hidden from the Food Features and Home Screen.
  • The Medication Companion mini-courses will still be available in the Library.
