Overview
Weight loss medications have been shown to be highly effective when paired with behavioral interventions like Noom. However, there are risks to losing too much weight too quickly, but eating more protein can help combat some of these health risks by preventing muscle loss and malnutrition.
Protein Power is a feature designed for all new Noom Med Noomers and Noom Weight Noomers currently taking GLP-1 medications. This feature helps you eat more protein by adding a swipeable protein bar on the home screen and showing macros data at the end of each meal log, as well as unlocking improvements to the food color system.
How to Access This Feature
You’ll need to complete the Power of Protein article in your curriculum in order to view all of the protein features. This article should appear on Day 2 or 3, depending on your daily reading goal. Upon reading the article, you’ll see a protein bar on your home screen, a protein bar at the end of meal logging on the Meal Feedback screen, and macros in the Meal Analysis screen. You’ll also have access to the food color changes from Day 1 in the program.
Protein Goal Personalization
The protein goal is personalized because it’s based on each Noomer’s calorie range, which is calculated based on age, height, sex, physical activity level, and step count. Since the daily protein goal is based on calorie range, it can change from day to day or even within a day. This is because Noom’s current calorie calculation takes into account daily steps and exercise, so your daily protein goal can change as well.
Protein Features No Longer Visible
Currently, the protein features are designed specifically for use with the Noom Med program and/or our Medication Companion program. If you no longer have access to either of these programs, you won’t see the additional protein features in the Noom app.
Troubleshooting
If you should have the additional protein features but don’t see them in the Noom app, please try force-closing and reopening the app.
Additional Support
You’ll receive access to helpful protein resources in the Saved Articles section of the Noom app, including a Protein Eating Guide and Protein FAQs. If you’re enrolled in the Noom Med program, you can get more support or advice from your clinician or Med Circles coaches. If you’re enrolled in the Noom Weight program, you can reach out to your Noom Guide/Coach for guidance.
