We’ll be conducting routine maintenance on Saturday, August 3rd.
Our phone system will be unavailable during this time, but you’ll be able to chat with our live agents 24/7 or you can email Support.

Maintenance Mode

Availability varies by location. Some features or services may not be offered in your region.

Maintenance Mode is designed for members who are at their goal weight and want to continue benefiting from the structure, content, and accountability that Noom provides. It shifts the focus from weight loss to sustaining your results long-term.

Maintenance Mode is the default mode for members who start Noom without a weight loss goal.

What’s included in Maintenance Mode

Maintenance Mode includes four key features:

  • Maintenance Curriculum — A wealth of lessons and strategies focused on weight maintenance, available in your app library under “Maintaining stable weight.”
  • Maintenance Calorie Zone — An adjusted calorie budget calibrated for maintaining your weight.
  • Maintenance Graph — A weight graph that displays a steady band around your desired weight.
  • Maintenance Community — An exclusive in-app community of Noomers focused on maintaining their weight.

What happens to my calorie budget in Maintenance Mode?

In your Weight and Calorie Settings, you can select the toggle for Maintenance calories. When you turn Maintenance calories on, your calorie budget is updated to reflect what your body needs to maintain your current weight. This is different from the calorie budget used during weight loss.

How is my Maintenance Zone calculated?

Your Maintenance Zone is calculated using the Harris-Benedict equation, which takes into account your age, height, current weight, and sex.

Unlike the weight loss zone, the Maintenance Zone is designed to help you balance your energy in and out—so your calorie intake and calorie burn stay about the same.

What does the Sustainable Weight Graph look like?

Instead of a goal line trending downward, your weight graph will show a band around your desired maintenance weight — giving you a clear visual of whether you’re staying within your maintenance range.

Can I switch between Maintenance Mode and Weight Loss Mode?

Yes. You can switch back and forth between the two modes by tapping the corresponding tabs in the Weight and Calorie Settings.

I just started Noom and don’t have a weight loss goal. What does my experience look like?

If you joined Noom without a weight loss goal, you’ll begin in Maintenance Mode from the start. Your calorie budget will be set to maintenance levels, and your experience will be focused on sustaining and supporting your health — not weight loss.

Can I set a weight loss goal after starting Noom without one? / How do I set my weight loss goal?

To set a weight loss goal:

  1. Go to your ‘Settings’ by tapping your profile icon in the upper left corner
  2. Select ‘Weight and Calorie Settings’
  3. Tap ‘Lose Weight’
  4. Enter your goal weight when prompted

Once weight loss mode is on, you’ll see a weight loss zone in your calorie budget and a goal line on your weight graph.
