Telehealth for Branded Meds: Medicare Bridge

Availability varies by location. Some features or services may not be offered in your region.

This article is intended for members enrolled in the Telehealth for Branded Meds Program using Medicare Bridge coverage.

Overview

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program helps eligible Medicare members access select branded weight-loss medications — Wegovy®, Zepbound®, and Foundayo™ — for a $50/month copay, separate from your Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit. Coverage is not guaranteed and requires a prior authorization, which our Care Team submits and manages on your behalf.

What to Know

To qualify for Medicare Bridge, you must be 18 or older and meet one of the following:

  • BMI of 35 or higher, with no additional qualifications required
  • BMI of 30 or higher, along with one or more of:
    • Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction,
    • Uncontrolled hypertension (systolic blood pressure above 140 or diastolic above 90, despite treatment with two antihypertensive medications)
    • Chronic kidney disease stage 3a or higher
  • BMI of 27 or higher, along with one or more of:
    • Prediabetes,
    • Previous heart attack or stroke
    • Symptomatic peripheral artery disease

Some conditions aren’t eligible for Medicare Bridge, since they’re already covered under Medicare Part D. This includes type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea, and MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis).

A prior authorization is required for everyone in this program, and our Care Team handles the request for you — you don’t need to do anything to initiate it.

In addition to your Noom subscription, an approved copay is $50/month for the medication.

Prescriptions are sent to Amazon Pharmacy for home delivery.

Getting started

  1. Visit noom.com/medicare-bridge to sign up.
  2. Complete your medical intake, which includes questions used to assess your eligibility for Medicare Bridge coverage.
  3. Create an account with Amazon Pharmacy in order to track your shipments.
  4. Your clinician reviews your intake and, if appropriate, sends a prescription to Amazon Pharmacy.
  5. Our Care Team submits a prior authorization request on your behalf. This typically takes 2–3 business days for a response.
  6. If approved, you’ll need to set up an account with Amazon Pharmacy using your Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) — no need to add any Medicare Part D information.
  7. Once you receive a text from Amazon Pharmacy, complete payment for your $50 copay to trigger shipment.
  8. In the Noom app, mark that you’ve received your medication — this unlocks your dosing check-in ahead of your next refill.

Ongoing care

  • Medication ships every 4 weeks. A few days before each refill, you’ll get a dosing check-in in the app to keep, increase, or decrease your dose.
  • Every 12 weeks, you’ll need to complete a refill check-in to keep your shipments on schedule.
  • If you have questions about side effects, your dose, or your prescription, you can reach out to your Care Team directly in the app.

Need to Know More?

What if my prior authorization is denied?

We know this isn’t the outcome you’d hope for. While Noom can’t guarantee insurance approval, you still have a few paths forward if you’d like to continue treatment — including cash-pay access to branded medication, compounded semaglutide or compounded tirzepatide programs. Reach out to support@noom.com or visit noom.com/med to explore your options.

What happens after my prescription is sent to the pharmacy?

Once your prescription is sent, Amazon Pharmacy will handle payment and shipping directly. You’ll receive a text once your prior authorization is approved, asking you to complete your $50 copay — your medication ships once payment is made. Be sure to mark your medication as received in the Noom app, since this unlocks your dosing check-in ahead of your next refill.
