Simplified Onboarding Experience
Getting started with Noom is quicker and easier with the simplified onboarding process. After downloading the Noom app, all you need to do is answer a few basic questions about yourself and complete the short questionnaire that follows. You’re then provided an opportunity to learn more about Steps/Seeds features, as well as connect to the Apple Health or Google Health platform. After completing these steps, you’re ready to start enjoying the additional features in the Noom app.
Body Scan
The Body Scan feature allows you to do a full body scan from the Noom App and receive a personalized health report that includes measurements across your body (e.g., chest, arms, waist), a prediction of your body composition, and recommendations to lower body fat and maintain muscle. This feature also allows you to
- View and interact with a side-by-side view of your 3D-generated avatars at current and goal weight.
- Receive detailed body composition measures that are tracked over time.
To get started or complete a new Body Scan, just tap the Body Scan task card on the home screen or visit Health > Health Insights.
Future Me
Future Me helps you visualize how your current habits could impact your future health.
You can access Future Me from the side navigation panel:
- Click your avatar or initials in the top left corner of your screen.
- Select “See my Future Me” from the menu.
- Follow the on-screen guidance to upload an existing photo or take a new one.
- View results – you’ll see two visualizations, one reflecting healthy habits and another showing the potential impact of unhealthy habits.
You can return to the Future Me tool at any time.
Step Tracking with Rewards
Every step counts, and now they add up to something more. You can turn everyday steps into real rewards by automatically tracking your movement and earning Seeds you can redeem for real rewards. Steps can be tracked via integration with a third-party tracker (ie, Fitbit, Apple Health, Google Health Connecter) or with your phone’s pedometer function. Additionally, you must grant Noom access to your connected device or phone’s pedometer in order to track steps and earn Seeds (prompted to grant access during the onboarding process).
Tracking Steps and Earning Seeds
To track steps and earn Seeds:
- Grant Noom access to a connected Health app or your phone’s pedometer in order to track steps.
- On the home screen, you’ll see your step tracking progress bar at the top of the screen. Your daily step goal is 5,000 steps, which can’t be adjusted at this time.
- As you take steps throughout the day, you’ll see the progress reflected on your progress bar.
- You’ll earn Seeds as you take steps, and will earn an additional Seeds bonus if you meet your step goal for the day.
Steps can’t be added manually in the Noom app, so you must sync to a step tracker. Additionally, steps aren’t counted for any other forms of exercise
Banking Seeds
Any Seeds earned for steps need to be banked on the same day they’re earned, and they can be banked multiple times per day.
To bank Seeds:
- Open the Noom app and locate the step tracker.
- If you have available Seeds to bank, the total available Seeds will be displayed right above the step tracking progress bar.
- Tap the Bank button to the right of the Seeds balance to bank your Seeds. You can bank any available Seeds, even if you haven’t met your step goal for the day.
- When you achieve your step goal for the day, you’re issued additional Seeds. Just tap the Bank Seeds button on the goal completion screen to bank the additional Seeds.
Please note that any unbanked seeds will be lost at midnight (your local time) and can’t be restored. However, you’ll receive a push notification towards the end of their day reminding you to claim your unbanked Seeds balance (if applicable).
Green Food Logging with Daily Goals
Green Food Logging with Daily Goals allows you to build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food logging so you stay consistent and reach your goals without the burnout. Using the Photo Food Logging or Voice Logging AI tools, you can quickly log healthy meals, skip the calorie counting, and keep your momentum going!
Food Logging Availability
The food logging feature in the free version of the Noom app is only available to those located in the U.S. However, the food logging feature becomes available for all members when upgrading to a paid Noom subscription.
Logging Meals
- When you first log in to the Noom app, you’ll complete the Intro to Food Logging lesson, where you receive your first green goal of consuming 100 calories of foods in the green color category.
- You can then proceed to log your first meal as soon as you complete the lesson, or you can do this at a later time by tapping the Meal Logging task card on the home screen.
- Tap the Use a Photo or Describe a Meal button, select the meal type you want to log, follow the prompts to log your meal, and then tap the Save button at the bottom of the screen.
- Once you’re done logging your meal, you’ll receive a Meal Insight from Welli, our AI-powered chat assistant.
- Tap Done once you’re done reading the Meal Insight.
While you can log all of your daily food intake, only calories from foods in the Green color category will be tracked towards your daily green calorie goal.
Earning Seeds for Logging Meals
Seeds for green food logging will be automatically provided upon completing all of the following actions:
- Logging up to 5 meals a day.
- Meeting your green calorie goal.
