When this occurs, Noom aims to respond responsibly, compassionately, and in a manner consistent with our role as a digital wellness platform.
How Noom May Become Aware of Risk
Noom may become aware of potential suicide or self-harm risk through user interactions with our website or app, such as:
- Messages or other user-submitted content;
- Responses to program content; and
- Other communications that indicate emotional distress.
Noom does not continuously monitor users for suicide or self-harm risk and does not guarantee the identification of all such situations.
How Noom Responds
When potential suicide or self-harm risk is identified, Noom’s response may include:
- Providing supportive, non-judgmental communications;
- Encouraging the user to seek help from qualified professionals; and
- Sharing relevant suicide prevention and crisis resources.
In situations that appear urgent or life-threatening, Noom may take additional internal steps consistent with user safety and applicable law.
Emergency Situations
Noom is not intended to be used in emergencies.
If you believe you are in immediate danger or at risk of harming yourself, contact local emergency services right away (for example, by calling 911 in the United States) or reach out to a suicide and crisis prevention hotline.
Crisis and Suicide Prevention Resources
Noom provides users with access to suicide and crisis prevention resources, which may include:
- United States: Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
- International: Country-specific crisis and suicide prevention hotlines based on location
A full and current list of international resources is made available to users and may be updated from time to time.
Limits of Noom’s Role
Noom is a digital wellness platform and is not a medical provider, mental health provider, or emergency response service. Noom does not provide medical care, mental health treatment, crisis counseling, or emergency services. Noom Coaches and moderators are not licensed clinicians and cannot diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Interactions with Noom, including interactions with coaches or support staff, do not create a physician-patient, therapist-patient, or similar clinical or legal duty relationship. Noom does not replace professional medical, mental health, or emergency care. When Noom becomes aware of potential suicide or self-harm risk, its role is limited to providing support and directing users to appropriate off-platform resources. Noom cannot guarantee outcomes.

For safety reasons and as permitted by law, Noom may take actions such as restricting access to the Service or disclosing limited information to appropriate third parties. These actions are intended to support user safety and do not constitute emergency or clinical intervention.
