by | Apr 3, 2019 | Last updated Feb 15, 2022

Are you looking for a little pizazz in your snack options? Are you searching for something that you can do together with your kiddos? These super fun and delicious goodies provide a healthy, active, and yummy solution to snack time. Even better, these four tasty snacks will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters!

Pizza Kabobs

This little savory snack is a healthy twist on pizza!

Here’s what you need:

  • Small Bamboo Skewers
  • Cubed low-fat cheese
  • Cherry tomatoes, cut green peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, or other pizza-style toppings
  • Cubed grilled chicken, turkey sausage, or slices of low fat or turkey pepperoni

It’s easy! Just slide one cube of cheese, followed by a veggie, then a meat, then a veggie, and continue alternating these options until you run out of space on your skewer. Enjoy these kabobs with a sprinkle of italian seasoning. If you are feeling a little saucy, serve these kabobs with a small side of tomato sauce for dipping!

Apple Cookies

Are you in the mood for something sweet? These fun and delicious no-bake cookies are a wonderful, easy snack that feed everyone’s creativity, too!

Here’s what you need:

  • One big apple
  • Nut butter of your choice (peanut butter, almond butter, sun butter, etc)
  • Your choice of toppings like dark chocolate chips, coconut flakes, cinnamon, nutmeg, or whatever else you can dream of!

Cut the apple into slices crossways. Using a knife or a small cookie cutter, cut the center out of the apple to remove the core, leaving it looking like a ring.  Top the rings with the nut butter, and decorate it with toppings that you like!

Oven-baked Egg Bites

This “EGG-celent” delicious snack packs a punch of protein and will be sure to satisfy the entire family!

Here’s what you need:

  • Eggs
  • Muffin pan
  • Non-stick spray or muffin baking cups
  • Salt/pepper
  • Toppings like shredded low-fat cheese and chopped veggies

First, preheat oven to 350ºF. Then, spray the muffin pan with non-stick spray or line it with baking cup. Crack an egg into each cup and season with salt and pepper. Bake it for 15-17 minutes. Top it all off with your favorite healthy toppings! These yummy little egg treats will keep well in your fridge in plastic containers for a day or two.

Chunky Monkey Popsicles

These delicious frozen pops deliver a helping of vitamins and calcium courtesy of the main ingredients: yogurt, banana, and dark chocolate!

Here’s what you need:

  • Vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Banana, sliced
  • Dark chocolate chips
  • Popsicle molds (or small dixie cups, popsicle sticks, plastic wrap, and rubber bands)

Simply mix the three ingredients together. Be sure to do it gently, so that you avoid mushing the bananas. Pour the mix into your popsicle mold, or pour it into the dixie cups. If you are using the dixie cup method, cover each of the cups with a piece of plastic wrap and secure it with a rubber band. Poke a popsicle stick through the plastic, and place all of the dixie cups on a cookie tray. Freeze these pops overnight and enjoy!

If you’re looking for something a little easier, try these grab ‘n go options:

  • Fresh cut fruit, with a vanilla Greek yogurt “dip”
  • Fresh cut carrots and hummus
  • Plantain chips with a small scoop of guacamole
  • Air-popped popcorn
