Protein Food Color System

Overview

The Noom Weight food color system has been updated to better reflect protein-rich foods. This update helps ensure that your food logging experience aligns more closely with your goals, especially if your diet is focused on high-protein foods. Additionally, the color system update may be beneficial for those who have the GLP-1 Companion enabled in the Noom app or are enrolled in the Noom Med Program.

Updated Protein Color System Availability

You may have access to the updated protein color system, provided that you meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in the English version of the Noom Weight program (currently only available for new members in the U.K.)
  • iOS or Android
  • Have the most recent version of the Noom app installed

Updated Protein Food Color Percentages

The update to the protein food color system in Noom Weight more accurately reflects the nutritional value of protein-rich foods. Previously, foods like chicken breast and turkey were marked yellow. Now, these and other high-protein foods are categorized as green, helping support members who follow a protein-focused diet.

The updated food targets are:

  • Green: 50%
  • Yellow: 30%
  • Orange: 20%

These targets reflect a greater emphasis on foods that support satiety and long-term success, especially those high in protein.

Checking a Food Color in the Noom App

You can view a food’s color category directly in the Noom app.

To look up a food color:

  1. Open the Noom app and tap the Success Kit tab at the bottom of the home screen.
  2. Tap Food Color Lookup.
  3. Use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for the food item(s) or use the barcode scanner.
  4. A list of matching food items is displayed with a colored dot to the left of the food item name to represent the food color category it belongs to.
  5. Tap on the name of a food item to view more information about the food colors.

Please note that the searchable list and the barcode scanner only include foods in the Noom food database, but won’t include custom dishes, Noom recipes, or any custom foods you’ve entered.
