How Erin broke through a plateau and lost 18 pounds in just 16 weeks

Plateaus. The dreaded part of any weight lost journey. Six months into her weight loss journey, Erin hit a plateau that she could not break through. That’s when she decided she needed some extra support and decided to put her trust in Noom.

Before starting her customized course, Erin worked out 3-4 times per week, tracked her food in MyFitnessPal, and used her FitBit to monitor her sleep and activity.. But she suffered from a case of what we like to call the “weekend problem.” Like most people, Erin had a relatively easy time staying on track during the week, but would fall off the bandwagon on the weekends, which set back her progress. That’s where Noom made all the difference. Erin‘s customized course helped her how to stay motivated and set SMART goals to achieve them.

Noom has been different because not only am I able to track food and exercise within the app, but the articles help me understand triggers, motivations, and risk factors, and set SMART goals around solving them. Noom helped me to understand that some of these smaller aspects of weight loss actually have a big impact on reaching long term goals.

What also made Noom different was having access to a dedicated health coach to set short-term and long-term goals, bounce ideas off of, and develop action plans to overcome obstacles.

Along with the guidance of her personal coach, the interactive articles and challenges that Erin received daily helped Erin push past her plateau.

They helped me get over the plateau I reached by getting me to better understand the destructive cyclical binge/fast routine I had gotten into that was just not working.

In just 16 weeks, Erin has lost 18lbs and feels happier, more confident, and generally a more pleasant person to be around. Changing her diet and incorporating more nutritious foods into her daily routine has also helped her energy levels skyrocket and helped her overcome bad insomnia.

Her transformation extends far beyond the physical, though.

It’s the first program that really helped me to understand my relationship with food and better evaluate situations that may put me at risk of achieving my goals and ways to get past them. It’s definitely pulled me out of the plateau and has helped me reach my goals.
