December
- WorkSmart Labs is now Noom Inc.!
June
- Noom Weight Loss (Android) passes one million users in less than 30 days, breaking our
record for new users in such a short amount time.
- Noom and CardioTrainer users have lost a total of half a million pounds of fat,
burning over five billion calories. Our users burn over 16,000 calories/minute
exercising.
- WorkSmart Labs apps have appeared in the hands of over 6 million users.
- Artem gives the keynote speech at the Mobile Health Expo 2011 at New York City.

- Noom Weight Loss is launched on the Android Market.
- Daesang, a food giant in Korea, licenses Calorific on the Korean market for one
year.
- The Uplinq 2011 conference invites Artem to be a panelist on the topic of Wireless
Health Technology.
- John Edwards (not the Senator) joins us as a Technical Communications Specialist.

- Gennadiy Shafranovich, an amazing engineer with a wealth of industry experience,
joins WorkSmart Labs. Gennadiy brings a wealth of product and engineering expertise,
quickly becoming a force multiplier for the team.
- WorkSmart users burn over 7000 calories/minute exercising.
February
- We are invited to attend the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona,
Spain by the Google Android team. We demo CardioTrainer, Calorific to the rest
of the world.
January
- WorkSmart Labs passes 4 million users.
2010
December
September
- WorkSmart Labs passes 2 million users.
- CardioTrainer integrates with
Google Health. We became the largest data feeder of Google Health.
July
- We move into a dedicated office in Chelsea, transforming two former gallery spaces
into an engineering office.
- Calorific Food Tracker is launched.
- Johannes Krämer joins WorkSmart Labs with a background in game design and
computer science to help us make weight loss more fun and addictive.
May
- Vera Kern, a computer science expert pursuing her PhD in art history, relocates from
Germany to join our engineering staff. Her passion and expertise allows us to execute
even faster.
- We are invited to attend Google I/O 2010 to demonstrate our CardioTrainer in the
Sandbox; we meet many amazing engineers.
April
- CardioTrainer (Android) passes 1 million users.
March
- Motorola invites us to CTIA 2010 in Las Vegas to demo CardioTrainer in the MotoDev booth.

January
- Jane Sakong joins as our new Executive Chef. Her delightful energy is the secret sauce
in each tasty meal.
- Charlie Sneath joins as our new Communications Director, focusing on making sure lines
of communication are always open with our users and business partners.
2009
November
- Google invites us to demonstrate CardioTrainer as one of four “Best Android Apps” at
the Open Mobile Summit 2009 San Francisco, CA.
October
- Motorola launches the Droid with joint marketing support from Google. CardioTrainer is
featured in most major media releases, and our user base grows steadily.
June
- We raise more angel funds from a handful of Googlers and are very happy to have such
strong support.
Bernhard Seefeld, a senior Senior Product Manger from Google Map, becomes
one of our mentors.
March
- We raise the second round of Angel investment from Korea.
- We launch our first paid application on the Android Market, the Race Against Yourself
module for CardioTrainer. We celebrate the first earnings by buying a bottle of wine
with the money.
2008
December
- CardioTrainer users get a Christmas upgrade: bug fixes, richer statistics and voice
output.
Download numbers get a big Christmas spike.
- We complete our first mobile hardware prototype in collaboration with Pocobor.
November
- Artem quits Google to dedicate his efforts full-time to WorkSmart Labs.
- First beta version of CardioTrainer (0.9.0) is released on the day when Android Market
opens. It quickly becomes the top rated fitness application on the Market.
- WorkSmart Labs forges a strategic partnership with
Pocobor, a team of world-class
mechatronics engineers.
September
- After an extensive and delicious screening process, we hire Soojin Kim as our Chef.
We give her the title Chief of Tasty Operations.
- We decide to enter the area of Mobile Fitness and start to develop CardioTrainer.
August
- We relocate the office to a brand-new penthouse in Harlem. We call it our
"Kingdom".
- Mark & Ketill quit their Ph.D. at the Free University of Berlin to work full-time at
WorkSmart.
July
- We develop prototypes for motion tracking technology for free-weight exercise,
and work on prototypes for cable-based weight machine exercise.
March
- WorkSmart Labs raises the first round of Angel investment from Korea.
- Michael DiSanto (Reed Smith LLP) joins WorkSmart Labs as legal counsel.
2007
November
- We improve the Cardio Entertainment prototype, add TV capabilities, and permanently
install it at a local gym. It lasts 6 months without any maintenance.
- WorkSmart Labs, Inc. is established as a C-Corporation.
Mr. Jin W. Park becomes the first WorkSmart Labs Inc. financial advisor.
August
- First Cardio Entertainment prototype is completed and installed at a local gym for
several days for field testing and market research.
Gym members age 9 to 65 give great feedback.
May
- WorkSmart Labs hires its first two full-time employees,
and we start operations in our first headquarters in an apartment in Astoria, Queens.
Our summer adventure begins!
2006
- After many late nights and long weekends, WorkSmart Labs is born.
Saeju and Artem draft the business plan, and start to look for additional
engineers to join the project.
2005
- Artem gets the initial idea to use sensor technology to make cardio and weight
exercise interactive and fun, and begins a long period of product research &
prototyping.
- Artem meets Saeju, and they soon realize their complementary strengths will make them
a great team for this project. They name it "Humantra" for "Human Training".
