We’ve all heard the pro- and anti-high fructose corn syrup arguments, but here’s a new explanation for why HFCS (which is seemingly no worse than regular sugar) could cause greater weight gain: It was shown to cause addiction-like reactions in lab rats.

Are you a commitment-phobe? …We don’t mean in your love life, we’re talking about your doctor. Anyone who’s overweight knows that it’s easy to gain weight but very, very difficult to shed it again. Scientists may now have an explanation. One study found there’s a significant cellular change in the brains of obese people, which makes it harder for the body to let go of excess weight.

And a study on green tea this week acts as an important reminder to take every study with a grain of salt. While green tea has been touted as the one-size-fits-all solution to obesity, diabetes, unhealthy lipid levels, and more, researchers showed that while there are some positive impacts from drinking green tea daily, it might not be everything it’s cracked up to be.
