Burn the Turkey

Are you getting ready to stuff yourself with turkey, mashed potatoes and pie?

Scared of putting on extra weight during the upcoming holiday season?

We hear you loud and clear, and we’ve just released a new application called Burn the Turkey that’s designed to help get you moving after your Thanksgiving feast. It’s easy to forget about exercise during the holiday season, but we want to help you motivate yourself to burn off all of those extra calories.

After you download Burn the Turkey, follow the instructions to place a Thanksgiving delicious turkey right on your home screen. After you’ve started, all of the calories you burn from exercise will be automatically counted towards your goal. Watch the turkey disappear as you make progress, and burn off 3000 calories to finish the entire thing!

Burn the Turkey automatically integrates with CardioTrainer, our free application that lets you track all of your exercise activity using your phone. If you’re reading this blog post on your phone, click here to download Burn the Turkey from the Android Market. For detailed instructions on how to install the application, visit the Burn the Turkey help page for more information.

CardioTrainer v3.2 – Facebook Sharing Improvements

We are also releasing an update to CardioTrainer v3.2 with some big improvements to the way you share your workouts on Facebook. Instead of automatically posting each workout, you’ll see a dialogue after each workout asking if you want to share on Facebook with a comment. You’ll also see the Facebook icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen when you’re reviewing a track from your history. This lets you post the workout and share your progress at any time.

The new sharing dialogue that you’ll see after you finish your workout, and the Facebook icon right in your workout history.

If you’ve had any trouble with CardioTrainer posting to Facebook, this should help with most of those problems. Giving you more control over what gets posted to Facebook is just the first step in how we’re getting ready to let you do more right from your mobile device, so stay turned for lots more features coming soon. If you’re not interested in sharing on Facebook, you can go to CardioTrainer Settings > Sharing Settings and check the button to “Never share,” which won’t show you the dialogue box after each workout.

Let us know if you have any questions, we’d love to hear what you think of the new Burn the Turkey widget and new Facebook sharing features!

Happy exercising, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

CardioTrainer v3.1: Updated Music Integration, Workout History Redesign and New Exercise Types

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

A new version of CardioTrainer is available on the Market, and this update features some new redesigns of CardioTrainer’s essential features. Read on for the details!

Redesigned Workout History

Your workout history is a great way to see your progress over time and look back over your previous exercise activity. We’ve introduced two important features to help you review all of your hard work: filtering and monthly statistics. When you click on the button to the right of the green “Add Workout” button, you can filter your workout history to only show a single type of exercise in the list. We have also placed headers at the beginning of each month that show the total distance and total number of calories burned in that month. At the very top of your workout list, you’ll also see your overall totals for your entire workout history. We hope that these improvements help you look back and make easy to chart your progress!

The updated history screen, and the new exercise type filter.

New Music integration Design

CardioTrainer’s new music integration interface makes it really easy to choose the music you want to listen to before you start working out, and control it while you’re exercising. Right after you click on the “Start Workout” button, you can tap or drag the music note to the left to reveal the music controls. You can select a playlist, turn shuffle on/off, or disable music playback. When the workout starts, a song from your playlist will play automatically and display the song title. If you turn off music integration, the music controls will disappear as soon as you start the workout.

To open the music integration controls, click on the music note. You can set your options, and the music will automatically start playing when you start your workout.

New Exercise Types!

Many users have also been requesting new exercise types, and we’re happy to have added the following have been added to the list:

- boxing
- cross-country skiing
- mountain biking
- stairs / stair climber
- jump rope
- rowing / rowing machine
- spinning
- yard work (raking leaves, gardening)
- racquet sports (tennis, squash, racquetball)
- nordic walking

Please let us know if you have any suggestions for exercise types that should be added to the list in the comments below! The update is available on the Android Market right now, so install the newest version and let us know what you think!

All the best,

Calorific v1.1 – Now with Calorie Budgets!

Friday, September 24th, 2010

We’ve just released an update to our calorie tracking application Calorific, with new features and an updated UI. This version introduces Calorie Budgets which let you set up a personal profile with information like gender, age, height, activity level and weight loss goal. Using this information, Calorific will tell you approximately how many calories to eat everyday to meet these weight loss (or weight gain) goals.

We have also updated Calorific’s main food entry screen. You’ll now see a button to access your Calorie Budget profile as well as a new button to view your past Food History. After you’ve set up your Calorie Budget, there is also a daily progress bar under the date that shows how many calories you’ve logged out of your daily budgeted amount. This progress bar will show how many of the foods you’ve logged are green, yellow and red, giving a quick overview of how much you’ve eaten and how healthy the food was. You can review previous days by swiping back and forth on the daily timeline and the date, or taping on a day when viewing your Food History.

Our goal was to make Calorific more powerful while still keeping it very simple. This update would not have been possible with the incredible feedback from all of our users, and we’re going to be very interested to hear how these changes help you track your food throughout the day.

Happy tracking!
